Honourable Mohammed Bago a sitting member House of Representatives has won the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship ticket in Niger state.
Bago who is representing Chanchaga Constituency in the state beat 9 other governorship aspirants to emerge victorious in the struggle for the party’s ticket with 540 Votes.
Other opponents floored by Bago include the Niger state deputy governor, Alhaji . Mohammed Idris Malagi, Publisher of Blue Print Newspaper who scored 386 votes, Engr. Mohammed Sani Ndanusa, a former Minister of Sports got 84 votes, the Deputy Governor, Muhammad Ahmed Ketso, got 17 votes,while Alhaji Mohammed Rufai Mohammed, got four votes, Idris Musa Makanta, three votes,
Alhaji Mohammed Kutigi, one vote, Aliyu Idris, one vote. Mohammed Kpautagi, one vote, and Yahaya Mohammed Kuta, a former Secretary to the Niger State Government, SSG, got zero vote.
The Chief returnng officer of the election, Barrister Nasiru Ibrahim a former Attorney General, Kebbi state announced that about 1, 049 delegates were accredited to participate in the elections ,with 571 valid votes and 11 void votes.
In his acceptance speech, the winner, Hon. Mohammed Bago while thanking God for the success of the elections, called on the party supporters to work together for the party’s victory in 2023 gubernatorial elections.
