A couple in Gombe has expressed their joy in enrolling in Child Spacing services, in which it says spacing the children has improved the quality of their lives significantly.
The Couple, Mr. Aminu Salisu Mahadi and his wife Mrs. Shamsiya Inusa Abdul-Aziz, said that the family could now afford to invest and live a quality lifestyle.
Although they said at first they were skeptical about subscribing to Child Spacing, because they believed it would prevent them from having as many children as they wanted.
However, the story changed when Mr. Mahadi got enlightened and convinced by a friend, who was able to live comfortably with his children and wife, who, because of the plan, was able to raise children and at the same time further her education and graduate from school.
Mr. Mahadi said it took him a while to convince his wife to accept and try child spacing, but after that, they both went to a health care facility and got the best service that best suits them.
“The adoption of child spacing services, life had been so good because he could now save money and use it to invest in animal production.”
According to Mr. Mahadi, he can now take care of his five children and wife, which previously was difficult.
Madam Shamsiya, after being convinced to subscribe to child spacing services, she now had enough time to take care of herself, her children, and even her husband, which she could not do previously.
According to Shamsiya, earlier on in life, she was advised to finish having as many children as she could in her youth and rest, which means having children regularly with considering spacing them.
She however said spacing children had a lot of advantages over the frequent childbirth without spacing.
“If a woman is able to rest, she can take care of herself, her children, and even her husband. Meanwhile, taking care of children who are given adequate spacing in between is very tasking. You are taking care of this one and before you finish, this one will need your attention, and so on and so forth. This of course is not a small task. But with this plan, there is a great relief for me,” Madam Shamsiya said.
She said some of the negative aspects of not spacing children were the ability to take care of the new-born baby and at the same time take care of oneself, so as to remain healthy, as well as the baby in the womb.
According to Madam Shamsiya another advantage of child spacing is that the child being nursed by the mother gets to have enough breast milk and lives a healthier life than those not being spaced.
“Those not properly given enough gap end up falling sick easily. Within two-three days, he is sick. This is just the truth. But for now, Alhamdullillahi,” she said.
They said the services were free and would in no way affect the number of children a family could have, but would rather provide a more quality lifestyle for them.
