FCT-IRS makes move to ease Tax Identification Number registration

The Federal Capital Territory – Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) has revealed to Taxpayers, its plan to partner with Joint Tax Board (JTB), on Tax Identification Number (TIN) registration.

 

In a statement signed by the board’s Head, Corporate Communication, Mustapha Ismail and made available to Journalists in Abuja, the Service hinted that the partnership aims to assist residents of the FCT to obtain their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) with ease, ensure efficient service delivery and promote ease of doing business.

 

He explained that the new TIN has unified database and it uniquely identifies individual taxpayer in the country, such that if the person moves from one state to another, he or she can still use the same TIN.

 

How to get FCT Tax Identification Number (TIN)

 

– Personal TIN request using Mobile devices: To do this, the Taxpayer is required to download the JTB mobile App from the Play Store or Apple Store. This enables Taxpayers to register their personal details and generate the TIN from the comfort of their homes/offices using the JTB mobile App.

 

– Personal TIN request using Web: This allows the Taxpayers to request for TIN from the comfort of their homes/offices using the website. To do this, the Taxpayer is required to visit the website https://tin.jtb.gov.ng/ and follow the instruction. Please ensure the BVN details entered here corresponds exactly with your BVN SLIP.

 

– Non-individual (Corporate) TIN request: Representatives of duly registered Corporate Taxpayers and Agencies can also apply via the JTB website or walk-in to any of the tax offices to request for TIN.

 

The statement further explained that, Taxpayers with TIN are to retain their current TINs.

 

It further hinted that, you can check if you already have a TIN via www.fctirs.gov.ng, click on find TIN on the e-service menu or visit https://tin.jtb.gov.ng to verify your TIN.

 

It went further to explained that BVN is now compulsory for individual TIN request and a valid CAC registration number for non-individual request.
