Communications Minister seeks collaboration to advance ICT globally

Nigeria’s Minister of Communication and the Chairman of the World Summit on the Information Society ,WSIS Forum 2022,Professor Isa Pantami has emphasized the need for collaboration to advance Information Communications Technologies for Well-Being, Inclusion and Resilience globally.
Professor Pantami who is also Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy stated this when he presided over the high-level ministerial round-table meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
He described ICT as a key enabler of a digital economy and further stresses the importance of having a win-win relationship, maintaining that ICT globally cannot be developed in silos.
The meeting provided an opportunity for policymakers from across the globe to interact, network, and share experiences and knowledge to deepen the growth of ICT across the globe.

Earlier in his remarks, the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mr. Houlin Zhao called for more investments in ICT globally.
Mr. Zhao identified 4 key areas namely Infrastructure; Investment; Innovation and Inclusiveness. He maintained that deploying ICT in those areas will help improve standards of living.
The ministerial meeting was attended by Ministers and Deputy Ministers from ITU member countries.
Also in attendance was the Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information, UNESCO, Dr Tawfik Jelassi.
