Brigadier General Mohammad Kuku Fada has disclosed that the Scheme remains committed to working closely with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC, State Ministries of Health and other stakeholders to sustain the safe and efficient conduct of the Orientation and other aspects of their operations.

The Director-General stated this at the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Orientation Course Workshop, held in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

According to Brigadier General Kuku Fada, the workshop serves as an avenue for the review of the conduct of previous Orientation Courses to improve the conduct of the forthcoming exercise.

He acknowledged that despite the Covid-19 pandemic and other challenges of the operating environment, NYSC has continued to conduct Orientation exercises successfully.

I would like to use this opportunity to appreciate the support of Nigerians for the proposed NYSC Trust Fund. With the Bill for the establishment already passed by the House of Representatives, I am confident that it would not be long before the Senate gives its concurrence. I, therefore, appeal for the sustained support of all stakeholders for its actualisation.

Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Bello, while congratulating Brigadier General Fadah on his appointment by President Mohammadu Buhari as the 19th Director-General of the NYSC, said that the scheme will benefit greatly from his wealth of experience and the goals of the founding fathers achieved during his tenure.

Adding that “let me assure the Director-General that the FCT Administration shall not relent at providing the necessary support to the NYSC at all times especially as it relates to the security and welfare of our dear corps members. The various innovations and positive turnaround witnessed so far are also appreciated. I urge all the participants of this workshop to take advantage of this forum and make useful and workable contributions during the proceedings,” he said.

The 2022 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Orientation Course Workshop theme is “Repositioning the Critical Components of the Orientation Course Content to Address Prevailing Challenges II.”

General Fada thanked the Government for its unwavering support for the NYSC and also appreciated the support of Nigerians for the proposed NYSC Trust Fund.
