2023: Oyo PDP Picks Bayo Lawal as Governor Makinde’s Running Mate

Barely 48hours after the defection of the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, leaders of the PDP from the Oke Ogun region have announced the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation, Bayo Lawal, as the running mate of Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2023 election.

The announcement was made at a meeting attended by Governor Makinde; the State Party Chairman, Dayo Ogungbenro; Former State Party Chairman, Kunmi Mustapha; Chairman, State Advisory Council, Hosea Agboola; party leaders, elders and leaders from the Oke Ogun region.

The meeting of the stakeholders was held behind closed doors at the Presidential Lodge, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, on Tuesday.
