By Aanya Igomu, Abuja
The National Chairman of the Nigerian governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has called for unity and sincerity of purpose for the party to achieve victory in the 2023 General Election.
Senator Adamu made the call in his welcome address at the APC Special Convention to elect its Presidential flagbearer for Nigeria’s 2023 General Election.
He explained that ”the party’s National Working Committee that was elected and started work in March this year had worked to unite and reconcile members of the party since it assumed office.”
The APC National Chairman said ”the evidence of unity can be seen in the predominantly successful primary elections that held in all the states. ”
Senator Adamu commended the presidential aspirants who withdrew from the race.
Noting that “truths, half-truths and blatant lies” have been rife in the media concerning the APC presidential convention, he appealed to politicians and the society at large not to take advantage of freedom of speech to impinge on people’s rights.
Speaking on the Presidential election, he advised” the delegates not to vote out of primordial sentiments but rather select a candidate that will that will reflect the APC’s full commitment to Nigeria. ”
He added that the flag-bearer must share President Muhammadu Buhari’s ideals of a new Nigeria nation.
