The Nigeria Police in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria says it is determined to end any criminal activity in the State.
The Police Spokesperson, Mr Chris Anyanwu disclosed this while addressing Journalists on how the State Police Command cracked down a notorious syndicate of three-man armed robbery gang that specialises in robbing people of their vehicles and other wares at gun point.
Anyanwu said “At about 0730hrs of 3/06/2022, the Crack Squad of the Command got a distress call from Henry Ikpakaogo of Federal Low Cost Housing Estate Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The caller cried that while returning from Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria, in his Toyota 4Runner Jeep, a yellow colored mini bus carrying about six passengers blocked him at Okpoto in ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State. The supposed passengers pulled out guns and ordered him to get down from his vehicle . As he did so, the hoodlums bit him up, one hit him on the chest with gun and he blacked out. When he regained consciousness he discovered that they made away with his 4Runner Toyota Jeep with Registration Number ABC 943 SB valued #5,100,000 with all other properties in the vehicle such as one SAMSUNG NOTE 5 phone valued #180,000, wallet containing drivers license , Bank ATM card, voters card and #12,000 cash.”
“On the same 3/06/2022 at about 2020hrs , the same gang of armed robbers snatched a minibus with the inscription ENTRACO at Ochumba Street in Enugu
State. They also robbed Eneh Chimaobi ‘m’ of 11 Akwaibochi Street Enugu of one Toyota Camry with Registration Number ENU 898 BB, phones valued #30,000 as well as various other items from the occupants of the vehicle.”
Anyanwu said “On receiving the distress call, the crack squad of Ebonyi State Police Command led by SP Philip Agu swung into action . The Toyota Spider was trailed and tracked down to Darling Star Hotel Onueke, Ezza South, Ebonyi State. Three of the armed robbers arrested therein. Equally recovered from the suspects/Hotel premises are two other Toyota Spider cars, one gold colored with Registration Number ENU 898 BB and the second grey colored with Registration Number MUS 59 HM”.
Suspects
The suspects include: Nwogbara Collins, a 33yrs native of Nenwe Aninri LGA, Enugu State who resides at New Market Road Egating Onitsha, Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Nwoye, 33yrs, native of Ohofia Agba, Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State, resident at Egeting Str Onitsha, Anambra State and a student of Institute of Management Technology (IMT),:Enugu, Francis Ifeanyichukwu 29yrs, indigene of Ndiagu Amaegu, Ezza South LGA, Ebonyi State.
