Yobe State partners Egyptian firm on meat processing business

The Yobe State Government, in partnership with Egyptian investors, is to establish a meat processing plant in Damaturu, the state capital.

The Egyptian company, Messrs Los Amigos, is to strengthen agreements to harness the agricultural resources and increase value chain activities in the livestock sector.

Unfolding the new meat processing plant on Friday, in Damaturu, the Commissioner for Commerce, Barma Shettima, said: “The Egyptian partners are here today to conclude agreements to cite the meat processing plant in the state capital.”

He added that the memorandum of understanding on the project was part of measures to strengthen agreements to establish the company.

While briefing Governor Mai Mala Buni, Shettima said that Halal El-Ghor of Los Amigos was in Damaturu to highlight the derivable economic value chains in the livestock sector.

He noted that the Egyptian investment partners were to brief the Governor on the meat project’s financing and ownership structures.
According to him, the execution of the meat processing plant; was to optimise the livestock potentials in the state.

“The implementation time frame for this Damaturu meat plant has already been set by El-Ghor,” he said.

Buni, therefore, expressed optimism that the project would turn around the economic fortunes of the state and its citizens.

“We’re strategically positioned with the economic comparative advantages in livestock production for domestic consumption and exports to earn foreign exchange,” he said.

He, therefore, urged the Egyptian partners to focus on smooth implementation process for a win-win project in the livestock sector of the economy.
