The Chairman of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Chuks Ezewuzie says the government will intervene in fighting skin cancer in Albinos.
Ezewuzie made this statement during this year’s Albinism Awareness Day celebration organised by the Albinism Association in Awka, the State capital.
Ezewuzie while reacting to the theme of the event ‘united in making our voice heard’ encouraged everyone to get vocal through individual awareness campaign in order to help change myths and misconception around albinism issues.
He said “People need to be educated on matters related to albinism especially parents.
“A lot of parents don’t know their role when it comes to caring for children with albinism.
“Cancer cut people’s lives short but if you can avoid the sun ray and live a healthy life style by avoiding those things that trigger cancer cells then you can live long and happy.”
The Chairman Ezewuzie assured everyone that the Anambra State Disability Rights Law is fully prepared to intervene in any complaint on discrimination against albinos because of their skin color.
