Adamawa Training Programme Targets 17,000 Women and Youths

Over seventeen thousand youths and women have been enrolled for training under the Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency vocational skills programme.

 

The Head of the Agency, Hajiya Aishatu Bello, at a news conference in Yola said the enrollees had been placed on a monthly stipend of between N10,000 and N50,000 depending on the type of trade they have chosen.

 

She said the programme which began in 2021 focused on exposing the beneficiaries to tailoring; poultry, plumbing, ICT, welding and fabrication, leather work among others.

 

Hajiya Bello attributed the positive impact of the programme to the commitment of the state Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri to the course of youths and women in the state.

 

The governor has demonstrated political will towards poverty alleviation, employment generation to promote self sustainability and reliance,” she said.

 

Create Jobs

According to her, the era of depending on white collar job is over as government alone cannot provide for all, hence, the need for vocational skills to create jobs.

 

She called on interesting individuals and groups to register with the Agency to be able to access and benefit from the programme.

 

We collaborate with sister agencies in the implementation of the programme as we evaluate and monitor performances,” she explained.

 

Beneficiaries were drawn from the twenty-one local government areas in the state.
