Hajj: Second batch of 560 Kwara pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia

All the second batch of 560 intending Pilgrims from Kwara state , North Central Nigeria that were airlifted to the Holy land from Ilorin International Airport on Sunday afternoon have arrived safely in Medina, Western Saudi Arabia.

The pilgrims who were received by officials of the state pilgrims welfare board ,  departed the airport on board Max Air at about 2:49 pm .

Out of the total 560 Intending Pilgrims, 552 were from Kwara, seven  from Ekiti and one from Ondo state.

The departure was witnessed by the 2022 Kwara State Amirul Hajj, Dr Awa Ibrahim Akewusola and the Executive Secretary of the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Barrister Abdulganiyu Ahmed.

Speaking shortly before their departure, the Kwara StateAmirul Hajj, Dr Ibrahim Akewusola advised the intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state and the country while in the holy land.

In his remark, the Executive Secretary of Kwara state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abdulganiyu Ahmed urged the intending pilgrims to use the period to pray for the restoration of lasting peace in the state and the country in general.

A total of 1,112 intending Pilgrims have so far been airlifted to Saudi Arabia to perform the 2022 Hajj from Kwara state out of the total 1,500 seats allocated to the state for the 2022 pilgrimage.

VON Correspondent in Kwara State gathered that the airlifting exercise from Kwara State via Ilorin International Airport is expected to be completed on Wednesday or Thursday this week.
