Nigeria legion Corps of Commissioners graduates 350 in Niger State 

The Nigerian Legion of Corps of Commissioners has graduated 350 cadets in Niger State, North Central Nigeria to complement the activities of Security agencies across the State.

Commandant General of the Nigerian Legion, Major General Abdulmalik Jibril (rtd) stated this during the Passing out parade of the cadets of Batch A 2022, in Minna Niger State capital. He mentioned that the purpose of forming the Commissionaires Corps is to complement the tireless activities of security agents across the country.

Maj General Jibril rtd further appealed to state governments in the country on the need to incorporate the services of its personnel in efforts to curtail the menace of insecurity. He stated that the Commissionaires Cadet Corps is an unarmed security outfit enabled by the Legion Act No. 37 of 1988 and consists of still agile, fit, available and willing veterans of ex-servicemen to complement the efforts of existing law enforcement agencies to provide cover for private corporate organisations, individuals,  disaster management, and other similar issues.

“We are committed to setting a high standard in private security and industries and another establishment in areas we exist with the support of other security agencies,” said Maj Gen Jibril

Major General Jibril further said the corps cadets were given two months of intensive indoor training in the aspect of counter-terrorists activities within the communities. He said that Niger State is among the few states in northern Nigeria that have partnered with the Nigerian corps of Commissionaires in training its teaming Youths on the aspect of securing lives and properties across the state.

The commandant General of the commissioner’s corps who appreciated the Niger State government for providing them with adequate logistics and other items during the training urged states across the nation to also key in the services of the corps to add more value to the security architecture of their respective States.

The Niger State Governor, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Mohammed Ketso, reiterated the commitment of the state government to providing adequate security in the State. He mentioned that the Commissioners Corps will get the needed support as provided by other security agencies to diligently carry out their activities in the State.

He further said, State like Niger with the largest land mass in the country, needs additional security outfits to support other security agencies in the state in curtailing the activities of bandits and other forms of crimes in the state.

The Niger State Commandant Ambassador Raymond Peter and the Chairman of the State chapter of the Nigerian Legion both appreciated the support of the Nigerian Army in the training of the cadets. They said the graduating cadets are well equipped, to discharge their duties as and when due.

The colourful passing out parade of 2022 Batch A Cadets of the Nigerian Commissionaires Corps was rounded up with the empowerment of about 10 widows of fallen heroes of the Nigerian Armed forces.
