A gender-based Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO known as the Coalition of Muslim Women for Asiwaju, CoMWA and the National Association of Nigerian Students NANS have endorsed the incumbent Osun State Governor, Adeboyega Oyetola for second term.

CoMWA endorsement came with the formal launch of the organisation in the State as well as a special prayer for the victory of Oyetola at the July 16 governorship poll.

Oyetola will contest with Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and other contenders on Saturday July 16.

The Convener and the National Chairperson of the organisation, Hajia Rasheedah Adebari said CoMWA which covers all geo-political zones in Nigeria, was initiated to foster harmony and progress in the country, through active but peaceful political engagement, employing fairness and justice.

“We are organising this Special Prayer for a gentle, amiable, cool-headed, capable, intelligent, financial guru, incorruptible, indefatigable and God-fearing Governor Adeboyega Oyetola to be victorious in the July 16 election.

“We are not just canvassing votes for Oyetola because he’s the last man standing, the only ambassador in the entire Southern Nigeria (as governor), we are equally supporting him as a worthy administrator who has done us proud as Muslims, managing the scarce resources our Osun to achieve great feats without resorting to borrowing and without failing in his financial obligations as the governor.

“It’s is in this sense that we are declaring our unalloyed and total support for Oyetola for second point. After all, nobody changes the winning team. Oyetola towers above all the pretenders and jesters. He does not deal in theories. He is practical and realistic to the core. He is a silent achiever. So, let the achievements continue,” she said.

Adebari said CoMWA would not relent but will remain focused on the goal!

Meanwhile, students under the umbrella of National Association of Nigeria Students/Joint Campus Committee, (NANS/JCC), Osun Axis, and the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) have similarly passed a vote of confidence in the administration of Governor Oyetola, saying he deserves to be re-elected for a second term.

The students who had earlier embarked on a solidarity walk of few kilometers for Oyetola said their endorsement was informed by the outstanding performance of the Governor in the past three and a half years.

The students said they can no longer be neutral in the face of physical realities of competence, capacity and experience of Governor Oyetola.

The National President of NAOSS, Yusuf Moshood Agboola and his colleague National President of NANS/JCC, Oyelayo Afeez Oyewole said the Governor had distinguished himself as a committed and transparent leader whose modest achievements was unprecedented in the history of Osun.

We are not here for a political jamboree. We are formidable, resilient and highly-principled students of the State who believe strongly in good governance and responsible leadership.

“We are here on a strong conviction of good governance and quality leadership as being demonstrated and provided by Governor Oyetola to redefine the socioeconomic fortune of our dear State.

“Our endorsement of the Governor is not in anyway being induced by anything other than empirical facts and figures we have gathered and attested to since his emergence in the past three and a half years.

“We have no choice but to support this government and ensure that the governor is returned for a second term because he has done excellently well in all ramifications, particularly in the areas of education.

“We are convinced by many of your achievements, most importantly your prompt intervention in the education sector. You have proved to us that you are a leader with listening ears as manifested in the approval of many of our demands.

“Just few months ago we laid down nine problems and they have solved them and that is what prompted us to deem it necessary to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that he is returned. He has successfully provided vehicles for us across campuses. He has heeded our call not to increase tuition fees and he has been paying salaries and allowances of our lecturers regularly. That is why we have not for one day gone on strike,” Agboola said.

He said, going by verifiable data, the students organisations have over 20,000 students who are all ready to canvass and vote for Oyetola come July 16 governorship election in the State.

Responding, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola thanked the students for their continued support and cooperation.

The Givernor noted that their high level of maturity and understanding had culminated in the success recorded in the tertiary education sector.

Oyetola who promised better days ahead extolled the students for the appreciation of the modest achievements within the three and a half years.
