The All Progressive Congress, APC Northwest zone has affirmed it’s support on the emergence of Senator Kashim Shettima as the party’s Presidential running mate in the forthcoming elections.
The APC North-West leaders made the commitment in Dutse, Jigawa state when the party’s National Vice Chairman, North-West, Mr. Salihu Lukman and his team, in their fact-finding tour of the region met with leaders of the state.
In a press statement by APC Northwest Zonal Publicity Secretary, Mr Musa Mailafiya Mada, among the top issues discussed at the meeting was the emergence of Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate to APC’s presidential candidate, Mr Bola Tinubu.
“Participants resolved to work for the unity of party members and stronger commitment to mobilise Nigerians to vote to elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettima as the next President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and all candidates of the APC in the 2023 general elections” the statement read.
Participants at the meeting also raised the issue of the slow progress of the Voter Registration.
“Another important issue discussed at the meeting is the ongoing voter registration exercise which the participants have taken note that the exercise is moving extremely slow due to the inadequacy of capturing systems which results to the poor outcome recorded by the geographical Zone” .
Mr. Lukman promised to reflect all the issues raised at the meeting in his report at the end of the tour for proper action to be taken.
The Governor of Jigawa State, Badaru Abubakar enumerated measures taken to strengthen the party in the state.
“The measures includes among other things, establishment of reconciliation committee which is saddled with the responsibility of reaching out to aggrieved party members for reconciliation. Another committee established by the Jigawa State Government is that of the voter registrations which is charged with the responsibility of ensuring a success of the exercise in the state,” he said.
The Governor further appreciated Mr. Lukman and his team of officials for the visit.
The Governor was represented by his deputy and the party gubernatorial candidate in the state, Umar Namadi.
The APC National Vice Chairman, North-West and his team on their fact-finding tour of the zone have visited several states in the Zone.
