The Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA has advised Government, Civil Society and other security agencies to join hands in tackling insecurity in Nigeria.
The Director-General of the Institute, Professor Eghosa Osaghae gave the advise at a one day roundtable discussion on security held in Lagos.
Professor Osaghae said Nigeria was faced with an unprecedented wave of different challenges, but the current overlapping security crises ranging from kidnapping to insurgencies, terrorism and banditry was worrisome.
He stated that almost every corner of the country has been hit by violence and crime and the end was not in sight.
In the same vein, a Professor at the Bello University Kano, Professor Habu Mohammed spoke of negligence on the part of the Nigerian government int addressing the issue of security.
Another Professor, Taiye Okoosi- Simbine mentioned the issue of unemployment and corruption as another causes insecurity in Nigeria .
She said that governments was doing all they can to address the issue of insecurity in Nigeria .
The conference noted that security was the pillar upon which every meaningful development could be achieved and sustained.
