As part of efforts to boost revenue generation in the councils, the Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), in the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory administration, FCTA, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has vowed to deal decisively with any staff, Department and Agency, under his supervision, aiming to sabotage the efforts of government in scaling up its internal revenue generation.

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the chairman on media and public Affairs, Mr Kingsley Madaki, the Chairman gave this warning when he spoke to heads of departments and staffs of the revenue department of the council in the council Secretariat, Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

Maikalangu also frowned at the lukewarm attitude of some revenue-based technical consultants in driving the process, warning that he would deploy all constitutional means to punish any staff or tech consultants under his supervision that fails to comply with the renewed vigor of the new AMAC administration to boost its revenue base.

According to him, ” I will be the first Chairman to discipline any erring technical consultant or staff who wants to sabotage government’s efforts in up-scaling Internally Revenue Generation (IGR) for the Administration.

“We cannot continue this way because people are out there collecting money without remitting to the council and why is it so.. Who so ever that want to pay revenue to AMAC must come to this council to get clearance, go to the bank, make cash payment, obtain the teller, return back to the council and take back your receipt.

“Please and please I repeat this stay away of any act of criminality because we are going out completely with monitoring and enforcement team that will checkmate any criminal activities. In as much as you are my brother and sister, do the right thing because AMAC must move higher and greater than we met it” he said.
