VON journalist bags 2022 Pan-African Award

Voice of  Nigeria’s ace journalist,  Destiny Abanyem Onyemihia  has won the 2022 Pan-African (re)insurance journalism awards in Best Broadcast English Category.

The 7th Pan-African (re)insurance journalism awards, According to the organiser, Continental Reinsurance Plc,  took place in Lagos, Nigeria,  last Friday night after two years of virtual events, with the inclusion of Arabic-language media in the awards which attracted entries from a record-breaking 22 African countries.

Reacting, the award winning  Radio Producer, Destiny Onyemihia who has continued to earn Voice of Nigeria more recognition in the continent with his previous international awards, expressed  gratitude to the media organisation for giving him the platform to excel in the profession and also make the country proud in Africa.

Other winners in various categories of the awards are as follows:

Best Entry, Arabic Category, Atif Fahim Mahrous,-Egypt, Maher Fadl Hanna-Egypt.

Best Entry, French Category Ouedraogo Patinema Oumar-Burkina Faso.

Best Entry, Print Category (English), Tunde Ajaja-Nigeria.

Best Entry, Online Category (English), Felix Dela Klutse,-Ghana.

Dr Femi Future Talent Award Fraterne Ndacyayisenga-Rwanda.

Launched in 2015, the Awards has continue to attract a rising number of entries from an increasing number of African nations.

Head of the Jury, Michael Wilson, noted that the awards  would  not only celebrate individual talent, but also include each of the winners as part of their editorial team with a shared goal.

“By opening the awards up to more journalists from more countries we are turning the awards into a platform for collaboration and cooperation across Africa,” he said

The winners will also receive an exclusive year-long mentorship to develop their insurance sector reporting skills further. This is in addition to cash prizes.
