Cooperative Empowers People in Kano State On Poultry Farming
As part of its contributions to alleviating poverty in the country, the National Agricultural Mechanization Cooperative of Nigeria (NAMCON), says it has empowered no fewer than 4, 572 people on modern poultry farming.
NAMCON President, Dr Aliyu Waziri, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said the beneficiaries were drawn from the 44 local government areas of Kano State.
The statement revealed that the initiative, which was targeted at the rural areas, is a subset of NAMCON’s Women Nurturing Birds for Wealth Empowerment Programme.
According to the statement, the goal of the initiative was to create jobs and uplift the standard of living of the residents of the state.
“NAMCON is in the business of creating job opportunities and elevating poor masses in the country,” it added.
Also, the statement revealed that the empowerment programme was in support of the transformation agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The development, according to the statement, would help Nigeria diversify its economy from oil to non-oil sector, and promote mechanization of the agriculture sector.
