Christian Women Association donates items to Internally Displaced Persons

The Women’s wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) in Niger State, North Central Nigeria has donated relief items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Munya and Shiroro local government areas of the state.

The State’s Chairperson of the Faith-based Organization, Deaconess Deborah Gana, in a statement by Mr. Dan Atori, the spokesperson of CAN in the State mentioned that the relief materials were presented simultaneously between the IDPs from Munya and Shiroro LGAs at the Central Primary School Gwada district.

“We are here in the IDPs camp Gwada in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state to pay our sisters’ home a visit (Female IDPs who are Christians and Muslims by Faith)  in commemoration of our 10th years Convention anniversary and to mark the occasion”.

“The relief items include bundles of clothing materials foodstuffs, soup ingredients, packets of bar soaps and Detergents among others” Added Deaconess Gana

Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries were from Munya and Shiroro LGAs, displaced from their homes and communities by suspected armed bandits and insurgents since April 2019 till date following incessant attacks, killings and abductions of several members of the troubled communities in Munya and Shiroro LGAs of the state.

“We have brought this token to show love and to feel with them the situation that they are into and then to pray with them that even after our departure, God, by His grace brings to an end this ugly and unfortunate situation that had brought them here”. Deaconess Gana stressed.

The Chairperson of the Niger State Chapter of the Christians Association of Nigeria’s women wing, Deaconess Gana, further mentioned that the “Theme of the 2022 Convention which is to keep working on the Faith path’’, emphasized that they will be more encouraged to work no matter the situation we find ourselves and we should not shift focus.

She further called on other faith-based Organizations and other well-meaning Nigerians and Corporate Citizens including the government at all levels “to always remember people in the IDPs and other similar situations.

“And the Bible tells us that we should pray for those that are in sorrow and share with them in sorrow and we should also identify with those that are jubilating”.
