Liberia Suspends Officials Accuses Of Corruption

The Liberian President, George Weah has suspended and ordered an investigation of three government officials who were sanctioned by the United States for alleged involvement in corruption.

The three officials include President George Weah’s chief of staff and minister for presidential affairs, Nathaniel McGill who is.

Others are the solicitor general and chief prosecutor, Sayma Syrenius Cephus, and the head of the port of Monrovia. Bill Twehway –

Accusation
Report says the trio is accused of “undermining democracy in Liberia for their benefit.”

The president’s chief of staff is accused of receiving bribes from potential investors and accepting kickbacks for government contracts.

None of the three officials has responded to the accusations. President Weah said the whole matter had raised “serious concern.”
