Anambra State to benefit from Agriculture intervention Project

Anambra State has been chosen among states in the nation to benefit from Small Holder Horticultural Empowerment Promotion SHEP project.
The State SHEP team leader, Mr Jude Nwankwo, who disclosed this at the State Ministry of Agriculture, Awka, said already Master trainers from Abuja had arrived in the state for the commencement of the baseline survey.
He added that under the project farmers would be guided and educated on horticultural crops’ best marketing practices using the SHEP method.
“They can now predict the market using market information to know how best to grow and sell horticultural crops. Again nutrition information is essential, to know what we eat and how we plan our menu”
The team leader, who is the Programme Manager for Agriculture Development Programme ADP, explained that the master trainers would also teach the Ministry the rudiments of the baseline survey.
According to him, two communities have been selected in the state for the project, namely Oraukwu, Idemili Local Government Area and Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area.
He further stated that the project would be scaled up in the nearest future to include Nawfija and Ogbunka Communities in Orumba South Local Government Area.
