Police Launches Special Visibility Operations in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command in North-West Nigeria has began visibility operations to enhace it’s oprerational response and stablise security order.

This is in in compliance with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, that all commands and formations to commence special visibility operations across the country,

Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Gumel, stated this while decorating 18 newly promoted officers of the command.

Gumel said the command has began crime mapping, identification of vulnerable point and massive deployment of personel on motorised and foots patrols.

According to him, the police remain determined to secure critical government installations and the Nigerian Correctional Centres in Sokoto State.

 To ensure safety of Correctional centres we jointly conducted review on the existing security architecture, identified the gaps and vulnerabilities at the Custodial facilities and currently complementing the Service strength in its determination for upscaling security in and around such facilities and never to allow any avoidable security breaches,” he said.

He assured members of the public that the police in the state is currently strengthening the existing levels of collaboration and synergy with the military and other relevant security agencies to reverse the current internal security slide.

We cannot achieve this goal all alone without stakeholder’s engagement so that we can defeat these criminals who are our common enemies and hell bent on altering our values for communal peace and security,” he added.

Gumel charged all police officers in the command to continue to protect the citizens with integrity and to always serve with compassion.

He added that 18 officers were decorated who was recently promoted from the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Superintendent of Police (SP).

The Police Commissioner said the gesture was part of the welfare drive to police officers found worthy of hard work, clean service records and character.
