The Canadian government has sanctioned 62 individuals for backing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In a statement, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the sanctioned individuals include high-ranking Russian government officials, their family members, and senior officials of currently sanctioned defense sector entities, Trudeau said.

In addition, the government has also sanctioned a Russian defence firm Avtomatika, which makes drones and electronic voting machines, and which is a unit of the Russian state-owned parent company behind the Kalashnikov rifle.

Report says the latest round of sanctions brings the total laid since the Russian invasion began in February to more than 1,300 people and entities from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
