Non Governmental Organisation Seeks more Job Creation in Nigeria

The Nigerian Government has been advised to tackle insecurity through job creation.

The newly elected president of Rotary club, popularly known as Olambe district 9110, in Lagos State, South-West, Nigeria, Pennyon Bello gave the advice in an interview with Voice of Nigeria, during her investiture ceremony as the 16th president of the club.

According to Rotarian Pennyon Bello, “Nigeria government should create jobs for graduates and all citizens, this will help to reduce insecurity in the country”.

The president went further to explain the reason for the establishment of the club.

“We carry out humanitarian service to help the less privilege ones in the society and the club is non-governmental organisation,” she said.

Plans

The newly elected president of Rotary club, Olambe, also stated the various plans she has for the club.

We intense to focus on disease prevention and treatment. Malaria and HIV test will be also carryout on people and also drugs will be given to them when necessary”.

“Maternal and child health counseling will be carryout on pregnant women, basic education and literary seminars wil be done for students in primary six to Junior secondary schools in the community and also writing materials will be given to students in order to lessen the burden of their parents,” she said.

Women Empowerment

She said she also has plans to empower women in the community.

“We will help about 10 markets women through small and medium scale enterprises to boost their businesses,” she said.

In the same vein, the father of the day, Mr. Babatunde Ipinmisho, advised the members of the club to always elect those who have good intentions to serve the public.

According to one of the former presidents of Rotary club Olambe, and also the first female president of the club, Rotarian Adetoro Ajao, ” I believe that the newly elected president of Rotary club Olambe, Rotarian Pennyon Bello, will work harder to take the club to greater height”.

Rotary club, Olambe, in Lagos State South-West, Nigeria, was established in the year 2007.

Since inception, the club has contributed the following, to Olambe community and beyond

The club has constructed five classroom at Legun community primary school, renovation of three classrooms at Legun community primary school.

The club has sponsored 10 Secondary schools students for WASCE in the year 2011/2012 and also sponsored three students for university matriculation examination in the year 2012/2013 among others.

In addition, the club usually carryout peace and conflict seminars in various schools in order to peach peace and unity to the youths in Olambe community.

However, one of the uniqueness of the club is that, Rotary club international is over hundred years old across the globe and the newly elected president, Rotarian Pennyon Bello is the second female president of the Rotary club of Olambe.

In the peak of the event, there were induction of Broad of directors and fund raising for club projects, and awards were given to members of the club.
