Nigerian Editors interact with Electoral Umpire on 2023 elections

The Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE is holding an interactive session with the Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, in Lagos.

The interaction is the beginning of a series of engagements by the NGE with stakeholders in the Nigerian electoral process for the success of the 2023 general election.

Four areas of interaction have been agreed upon for deliberations. These cover the electronic transmission of results, INEC Communication Policy revised edition, Report of the 2019 general elections and Regulations and Guidelines for the 2023 election.

Earlier, the electoral umpire had a retreat with electoral commissioners and top officials to review the off-season elections in Ekiti and Osun states as well as prepare for the next year’s general election.

Voice of Nigeria reports that NGE interactions with Presidential candidates has been rescheduled to accommodate the preparations of the political parties’ electioneering campaigns slated for later this month.
