Nasarawa State: Journalists Union begins good governance tour

The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commenced a 3-day good governance tour to assess the projects executed by Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration.

The NUJ who started the tour on Friday with Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone went around with a team of journalists from various national and local media organizations.

Speaking to the team of reporters before the take off for the tour on Friday in Lafia, NUJ Chairman in the state, Salihu Alkali, said the essence is to promote developmental journalism against the impression that journalists always like negative stories.

“It would afford our members to opportunity to see things for themselves and speak with beneficiaries of the projects.

“As you see the projects and interact with the benefiting communities, report same to the world what the governor is doing to improve the lives of the people of the state.

“It is not all the time that you write only about challenges and shortcomings, there is a need for developmental journalism,” the NUJ Chairman stated.

The team includes journalists from print, electronics as well as online media.
