The Abuja Broadcasting Corporation Limited (ABC), managers of Aso Radio and Television says it is aiming to raise N1 billion capital to drive reforms and run the corporation effectively as a commercial enterprise.
The Managing Director, ABC Ltd., Damisa Ibrahim Lawan disclosed this when some members of the FCT Minister’s Press Corps paid him a courtesy visit at  Katampe Hills, Abuja.
Lawal explained that on assumption of office in 2017, the administration .decided to commercialise the station to run as an enterprise.
He also explained that, ” Thank God we have put in place an organisation we can all be proud of.

“One Billion Naira capitalisation is our dream. For us to be fully commercialised, we must be seen and heard at all times”.
The MD further stated that part of reforms carried out include; on-the-hand training of the Corporation’s personnel, as well as upgrading the service to DSTV on channel 392.
Revealing plans by ABC to change its model of covering Abuja, Lawan praised  the FCT Minister for his role in developing the capital city.
Abuja is practically a construction site. There are projects everywhere; not only in the City Centre, but also in the satellite towns“, he added.
He announced that new programmes such as; Abuja File, City Managers and Abuja Master Plan would be launched to showcase these achievements and report on Abuja more effectively.
Lawan stressed that land was Abuja’s significant and God-given resource which required special focus to educate investors coming into the Territory to be aware of how to go about land acquisition and usage, so as to help them avoid getting into challenges.
Furthermore, the MD tasked media practitioners on the ethics of the profession, regretting the havoc wrecked by interlopers through citizen journalism, where verification -a
critical tool in the profession, is usually relegated to the background.
Lawan therefore thanked the FCT Minister, Malam Bello, Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, FCTA Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola and the Press for their consistent support.
