FG Hails Mining Society For Mining Development In Nigeria

Nigerian Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Senator Gbemisola Saraki has applauded the good steps taken by the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers in complimenting the Federal government’s effort to improve the mining sector in Nigeria.

The Minister said this at the annual general meeting of the Society held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The Minister commended the society for their immense contribution in the solid mineral sector in Nigeria.

Senator Saraki also enumerated some of the main goals of the diversification agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration which includes:

“Diversification of the economy with the target of five percent contribution to GDP; creating an industry worth 27 billion dollars, job creation with the target of creating five million jobs as well as industrialization of the economy”.

The two day annual general meeting of the Society of Mining Engineers themed ‘Sustainable Mining in Nigeria: Prospects and Challenges’ had in attendance various stakeholders in the Nigerian mining sector.
