The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has called on the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to sack its National Chairman, Mr. Iyorchia Ayu, and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
A leading voice in democracy, Spokesperson of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and PDP candidate for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, Ikenga Ugochinyere, says the crisis is rocking the PDP on the continued stay in office of both executives.
Ugochinyere insisted that they must make the chairman and national secretary vacate office unconditionally or be removed by the party to help restore the integrity and unity of the PDP.
It will show that PDP has zero tolerance for corruption and the readiness of the PDP to make any sacrifice, no matter how challenging, for the country’s benefit.
According to him, for PDP to win the Presidential seat in the coming 2023 elections, the party Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, must resign from his position.

“For the PDP to project transparency as it had always done, the North cannot hold about three critical positions in the party.
“PDP is not a Northern People Democratic Party nor Southern Peoples Democratic Party; we have to be just and united, so we can win at various levels in the coming 2023 general elections,” Ugochinyere said.
He noted that Sen. Ayu must go to fulfill the promise he made stating that he would resign immediately after the party’s primary elections if a Northerner emerged as the party’s flag bearer.
He called on the PDP Board of Trustees, National Working Committee, and the PDP caucus to be just and fair in getting the party to victory.
The opposition spokesperson hinted at his intentions to meet with PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar and Gov. Nyesom Wike to present a working path to a final crisis resolution. He said it would start with removing Ayu and Anyanwu as the first condition for resolving the issues.

“The corruption and bribery allegations against Ayu have presented a huge credibility problem for PDP. The removal of Ayu will offer new confidence in rebuilding the party,” Ugochinyere added.
