Anambra State Government Awards Contracts For More Road Projects

The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) in South-East Nigeria has approved and awarded contracts for road projects across the state to decongest the traffic often experienced in strategic places.

This was made available in a press statement by the Press Secretary to the governor, Christian Aburime following a tour of designated roads in the state yesterday.

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo said that the tour is in fulfilment of his campaign promise to the people.

“It’s the job given to us by the people. We will continue to do our best to deliver on them. I decided to come by myself because I want to feel what my people pass through as this will help me determine the best for them, Soludo added.

According to the statement, “the roads to be constructed were the Nanka –Ekwulobia – Aguata local Government Headquarters two-point zero-kilometer road, Ekwulobia – Oko zero point eight two five-kilometer road and Ekwulobia – Isuofia one point one two five-kilometer road.

Other ancillary structures and facilities to be built around the Ekwulobia hub are, a bus terminal building, fuel station, security office building, fire station and other external works, such as sewage treatment facilities, drainage, landscaping, among others.”

All the construction work will be handled by A.V. Vision Construction Nigeria Limited at the cost of ten billion, one hundred million and the work is to be completed in eighteen months.

Also to be constructed by A.V. Vision Construction Nigeria Limited is the Isuofia to Nanka Road with spur to Nanka/Obi Adimorah Road at the cost of seven hundred and forty eight million, eighty five naira, fifty kobo.

Six vital roads in Awka, the capital city of the state that were also among the set of contracts just awarded include, the Club Road, Regina Caeli to Y Junction Road, Millennium Industry – INEC – Ekwueme Square and Unizik Temp Site – Okpuno – Isuaniocha Junction Roads. Others are Chukwudifu Street and PPSSC – NECO office Road.

The construction of the road projects have been awarded to Niger Construction Company Limited (Nigercat) at the cost of six billion, six hundred and sixty-five million, nine hundred and sixty thousand, eight hundred- and four-naira, seventy kobo and the company has a target of ten months to complete the job.
