The leadership of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria has said that the union has greatly contributed to the development of the nation’s economy, as he called on the government to provide more support to grow the sector
The Deputy National President, Administration, Muhammed Bishara made the call during the inauguration of the eighteen elected chapels of the Kaduna state branch on Wednesday.
Bishara said that, RTEAN is doing its best to sensitise members on the possible ways to contribute to the economic growth and development of the nation, but lamented that the security needs to be enhanced across the country to allow its members contribute significantly to the road Transport sector.
He also called for more effort to be put into rehabilitating and constructing roads across the country for ease of movement and doing business.
“If the roads are not safe, definitely it will affect the economy. We are already collaborating with the security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the roads are safe for commuters and our members,” Bishara explained.
He urged the members of the union to be dedicated and ensure high level of discipline, just as he enjoined them to always liaise with the various law enforcement agencies for the maintenance of law and order.
The Director of Finance, Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KASTRA), Lawal Musa who issued certificates of return to the 196 newly elected Executives of Kaduna State RTEAN on behalf of the Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, noted that government was putting more effort in ensuring smooth running of the transportation sector in the state.
