2023: NEDG, NESG, CSOs to organise presidential debate

The Nigerian Elections Debates Group, NEDG, in collaboration with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, NESG, and Civil Society Organisation, CSOs is organising a presidential debate ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election in Nigeria.

The debate will be held in four geo-political zones across the country, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Lagos and Kano States.

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Elections Debates Group, Mr. Eddie Emessiri said “The first debate will focus on economic policy and citizens’ concerns on November 15, 2022

Mr. Emesseiri also said that “Nigeria is at a decisive point in its history” and as it countdown to the 2023 polls, “it is critical, like never before, to nudge Nigerians towards making informed voting choices”.

He further said the challenge before the group “is to ensure the evolution of transformational leaders with a broad knowledge of the issues and the political will to steer the ship of the great nation towards shared economic prosperity.”

The partnership is strategic and will kick off the process of making this Nigerian dream happen.”

The Representative of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group Mr Chuka Mordi however explained the need for debates ahead of the 2023 General Election which is barely four months.

During an interactive section with journalists, the Executive Director News, of Voice of Nigeria, Mr Ahaziah Suleiman who is also a member of the Nigerian Elections Debates Group, NEDG, further told journalists that the debate is to sensitise  “stakeholders and citizens of Nigeria on peaceful, informed and accountable democratic participation”.
