The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Lucky Yargwa, has assured the leadership of All Stars FC of Akwanga that the Ministry and administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule would spear nothing to ensure it succeeds.
Yargwa gave the assurance when he hosted a delegation of the Club who was on a courtesy visit to him in Lafia the state capital.
The Commissioner said, “Once again, I wish to congratulate the new leadership under one of our own from the Ministry, Eche Amos, on your recent emergence.
“I have been following activities of the Club and I must say I am so proud of your leadership and what you people do.
“Indeed, the All Stars is a formidable organisation that triggers positive changes in society.
“I have briefed the Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, on how important the All Stars FC of Akwanga is, and how it should be accorded the necessary support, seeing that it’s located within the Constituency of the Governor and myself.”
While commending members of the Club for their roles in helping to discover and nurture younger talents to actualise their football dreams, and supporting the cause of fellow members, Yargwa called on them to take advantage of their numerical strength to galvanise support for the re-election of the Governor Abdullahi Sule in the 2023 General Polls, so he could meet the yearnings of the citizens.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the All Stars FC of Akwanga cum Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Eche Amos, disclosed that the delegation was at the Ministry on a “Thank-You” visit for the roles the Commissioner and Ministry played before and during the inauguration of the present leadership, and to seek avenues which would be mutually beneficial for the common good of both Organisations.
He stated that, aside from keeping fit, the Club engages in programs and activities that foster peaceful coexistence, enhance social integration, and support the discovery and nurturing of budding talents into global stars, citing examples of Nigerian U-23, player Sunusi Ibrahim, of Montreal Impact in the United States Major League Soccer, and Junior International and KAA Gent of Belgium hotshot, Ahmed Abdullahi, as a few products of the Club’s Community Development Service, as well as standing as a pressure group to trigger positive changes in the society while defending the cause of its members.
He explained that members of the Akwanga-based All Stars cut across different fields of endeavors, but use football as a common ground to attain their goals.
He pleaded with the Commissioner to consider members of the Club in any appointment into any related field to serve as a moral booster to do more for society.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Isah Eyah, applauded the Club for the roles it plays and for identifying with the Ministry, stating that it was a right step in the right direction.
“Thank you for giving back to the society; thank you for promoting peace and unity in your locality and beyond, and for enhancing development while making your impacts felt”,
“You see, Government alone can’t do everything. It’s philanthropists like you who have excelled in one way or the other who can leave your footprints for others to follow.”
Each noted that the doors of the Ministry would always be opened to the yearnings of the Club, and assured of the support of the Governor Sule-led Government towards the attainment of the goals and aspirations of the Club.
“Our doors will continue to be opened to you even as we will continue to give you all the necessary support to succeed.
“You are lucky to have an insider of the Ministry who is your Chairman, so, be assured that the support will be ‘expressed’ to all of you.
“We will continue to close ranks to achieve our common goals.
“Equally, too, rest assured that this administration will attend to all your needs which we feel will help to promote the growth and development of our youth, society, and sustainability of the programs and policies of the Sule Government,” Eyah added
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of customised ‘All Stars FC jerseys to the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary which was to formally welcome the duo into the folds of the Club.
Voice of Nigeria reports that All Stars is a body of retired, non-active ex-footballers who come together to keep fit, socialise and galvanise support for its members and render community services to its host community for the overall benefit of society.
