Alhaji Abdulrazaq Salawu, a party chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State,  popularly known as Asaliwaa, passes on.

According to news reports, the late Salawu died on Sunday and was buried the same day at his Iwo residence under Islamic rites. He was a former Chairman of Iwo Local Government Area (LGA) of Osun State.

Reacting to the PDP leader’s exit, Alhaji Lukman Kayode Mudashir, the PDP Candidate for Iwo/Ayedire/Olaoluwa Federal Constituency, said he was shocked and sad.

“I received with rude shock, the sad news of the demise of our leader, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Salawu, popularly known as Asaliwaa,” Mudashir said.

He added, “This is a great loss, not only to his family but also to Iwoland and the entire PDP family in Osun State.

“He was an astute politician of great repute whose wealth of experience and knowledge will be greatly missed. It is my prayer that the Almighty Allah grants him Aljannah Firdaus.

“May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”

Similarly, Sunday Bisi, the immediate past Acting Chairman of Osun State PDP, and the Director-General (DG) of the Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organization, condoled the family of the Late Pa Salawu.
In a press statement, Bisi expressed deep shock over the demise of Salawu, whom he described as his political ally.

He said the late Salawu was a true democrat, a party man, and a stalwart to the core. During his lifetime, he stood by the party’s side and always did whatever it took him to ensure victory for the party.

“Baba Asaliwa was a leader par excellence, the man full of wisdom and native intelligence to manage any crisis.

“His death is a great loss to the party in Iwo local government and Osun State at large. We shall, as a party, miss him. Baba was my perfect confidant, a personal person whom I usually beat my chest to vouch for,” Bisi said.
