Technological innovation will continue to drive change – Expert
The Lead for the Nigeria Startup Act and Senior Special Assistant on Digital Transformation to President Muhammadu Buhari, Oswald Guobadia says technological innovation will continue to drive change and solve problems across various sectors
He stated this during a webinar themed; “Enabling the Next Wave of Growth for Technology Companies in Africa,” which was organized by the Nigeria Exchange Group Limited, (NGX) Technology Board
According to him, the current growth trajectory of the tech ecosystem is here to stay
Guobadia urged Nigerians, ecosystem builders and change agents to champion and enable the next wave of growth for technology companies in Africa.
He reiterated that the next startup would start in the African/Nigerian village adding that the Nigeria Startup Act is designed to help discover startups, help them to scale quickly and thrive by providing them with an enabling environment.
“Africa is the now and future and as such those in the tech ecosystem, should do their best to enable its growth.”
He concluded by stating that collaboration is the core of every ecosystem and it is our collective responsibility to join the efforts to enable the next wave of growth for technology companies.
“The Nigeria Startup Act serves as an example of collaboration between the public and private sectors in Nigeria and as such should be supported by all citizens.”

The Nigeria Startup Act gives every state in the federation the opportunity to build a thriving tech ecosystem aligning with the vision of the Act towards entrepreneurship, innovation and economic growth whilst taking into account local nuances and context of the state.
The next phase of the Act is the adoption and implementation across all 36 states.
