The Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP, House of Representatives Candidate for Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun federal constituency, Hassan Oyeleke, has affirmed that the solution to corruption in Nigeria is a draconian law.
Hassan disclosed this during an international conference organised by the School of General Studies of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State.
While speaking on the theme titled “Setting agenda for rapid national development through good governance,” the House of Representatives candidate noted that corruption had hindered the clock of the progress of the country.
He emphasised that Nigeria’s constitution cannot take care of corruption like draconian law which is in practice in some developed countries.
Speaking further, he noted that the two factors hindering good governance are a lack of core values and corruption.
He said the nation had lost the part of core values in the choice of people who only prefer to vote for candidates with a huge sum of money against the ones with ideas and experience.
He also stated that independent institutions, free education, and change of curriculum in tertiary institutions are part of solutions to the problems affecting good governance in Nigeria.
