Population Commission Promises To Conduct Accurate Census

The National Population Commission has assured Nigerians it would conduct an accurate and acceptable census capable of sustaining Nigeria’s development plans in its preparation for the 2023 population census.
Federal Commissioner National Population Commission in charge of Niger state in North Central Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Dattijo Usman stated this during a workshop on a compendium of localities for the 2023 Population and Housing Census held in Minna the Niger State Capital.
Alhaji Usman explained that the objective of the state-level compendium of localities is to compile all localities demarcated during the EAD in Local government areas basis showing the coverage and locations in the interactive maps.
“The enumeration area demarcation EAD exercise collected data on all localities with a standard definition .as a distinct population cluster, which includes fishing camps, hamlet’s, mining camps, ranches, farms, market towns, villages, towns, cities, and many other population clusters that meet the specified criteria”.
The population Commissioner who further commended the cartography department of the agency for delivering enough data for enumeration area demarcation mentioned that the commission has acquired a lot of data sets that will be useful for the forthcoming census and other activities needed for National development.
“I’m assuring Nigerians that the Commission is irrevocably committed to positively rewrite the history of the census in the country, which will be purposefully relevant in the drive towards sustainable national development”.
Alhaji Dattijo Usman, who further appealed for communities in Niger State to support the Commission in its bid to give reliable demographic data in the forthcoming census pointed out that “The Commission remains the greatest asset in National development which must be harnessed in order to make life worth living for our people”.
Acting INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Niger state Malam Yakubu Duku who commended the effort of the Population commission in its preparation for the 2023 census, said the success of the National Population and Housing Census is of great importance and that INEC will contribute positively to ensure its success.
