Association Moves Partnership with Banks to Fast-Track Farmers Entrepreneurship

The All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria, AFAN has commence plans to broaden its collaboration with financial institutions in order to support farmers and commodity groups in Nigeria.

The Association’s President, Farouk Rabiu-Mudi said this during a media interaction with journalists in Abuja, that the alliance will increase financial support for farmers and also restore them to their proper position as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy.

Mr Mudi said that the group had chosen all of its financial concerns into one entity, in that at least three banks across the nation, and encourage its members to conduct banking and business with the suggested institutions as a clear mandate and purposeful goal.

AFAN President also pointed out that for the collaboration to move forward after the financial institutions have been selected, the banks must adhere to the norms, guidelines, and requirements of the Association.

According to him, over eighty million Nigerians are members of the organization and approximately twelve million farmers are registered members in its data bank.

He noted that over one hundred commodity groups are stakeholders and the legal owners of AFAN.

” There is a lot of strategic restructuring going on within our organization for the betterment of our people, we the commodity heads will continue to meet to decide on better processes and partnerships that will grow our associations as farmers in Nigeria. We will want to assure that in less than six (6) months of selecting the banks, over 20 million Nigerian real farmers will transfer their bank accounts and affairs to the selected banks. Farmers’ Day is a day to celebrate all farmers, who continue to contribute immensely to the National food Security, Sustainability, as well as foreign exchange earnings, We want to invite all well-meaning Nigerians and organizations to come celebrate with us.” Mudi explained

In an interview with journalists, AFAN President said that he believes that if there is cooperation and partnership, the problem of Agriculture will be history.

He added that on the 16th of November 2022, AFAN will join the rest of the globe in celebrating world Farmers Day.
