Nasarawa United avenged its first-leg 1-0 loss to fellow Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Wikki Tourists, claiming a 2-0 victory in their second-leg pre-season fixture at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi State.

In their first-leg pre-season friendly, Nelson Abiam’s thunderbolt set piece strike in the 49th minute gave Wikki Tourists victory against Nasarawa United, handing the Solid Miners its first defeat in four games since moving to the New Jos Stadium in Plateau State for the continuation of its pre-season activities.

Twenty-four hours later, Nasarawa United overturned the result as they beat Wikki 2-0 in front of their home fans in Bauchi. The Big Elephants of Bauchi were punished by their former player, Anas Yusuf, who scored ten minutes into the first half to give his side the lead.

The visitors persistent domination after netting the first goal yielded a positive result after Emmanuel Ogbole was picked up by Suleiman Akoza’s diagonal cross inside the box, with the former slotting the ball past goalkeeper Mohammed Galadima to make it 2-0.

The home side made frantic efforts to pacify their appetite, but the defence of Nasarawa United stood firm. Though seven minutes were added after the ninety (90) minute mark, Nasarawa United ran away with the victory and instantly paid Wikki in their coins.

The team has since returned to Jos where they will confront Jazzy Stars FC in another pre-season clash on Friday morning at the New Jos Stadium.
