The federal government has been urged to mandate the Inspector General of Police, Chief of Army Staff and other relevant security agencies to mobilize more security agents to stop the spate of killings and attacks in the Mangu/Bokkos federal constituency of Plateau state.

The member representing the area in the House of Representatives Hon. Solomon Maren, made the appeal while briefing the House Press Corps on the recent attacks that took place in the area.

He lamented that from the 14th to 16th of November, suspected herders attacked and killed many people and burnt many houses as well as properties worth millions of naira.

“We want to inform the world that, over 300,000 hectares of crop farmlands have been destroyed by the herders due to deliberate and reckless grazing without caution and or fear of anybody. Most farmers had little or no harvest due to this wicked action of unscrupulous herders’’. Maren said.

The lawmaker also called Federal Government to mandate the federal ministry of Humanitarian affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development as well as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to immediately send relief materials to the victims to help provide new lease of life and restore hope to the people.
