Members of Road Safety Officer’s Wives Association (ROSOWA), visited road crash patients taking treatments at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku Awka, Anambra state. The visit was part of activities lined up for the 2022 Day of Remembrance For Road Traffic Victims.

According to a recent FRSC data, over 3,700 persons lost their lives between January to October this year, as a result of road crashes across Nigeria.

Part of the schedule for the event is reaching out to those who have been involved in road accidents, creating further awareness on safe driving and use of the road, praying for the peaceful repose of those who have died in road crashes among other activities.

Members of ROSOWA, Anambra State, who visited the state owned hospital alongside officers and men of the command, had with them items that were handed out to each patient in different wards of the hospital.

In an interview, a member of ROSOWA, Mrs Obianuju Ekeh, said that the association is also involved in regular awareness programmes to re-echo the dangers of driving with bad tyres, over speeding, driving under influence and others, explained that this year’s remembrance is significant considering the comparative data of road crash mortalities.

On her part, the Head of Nursing Services, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka, Mrs Augustina Ezeanoro, commended FRSC for coming around again to share time with patients, explaining that such gesture was important especially at this time.
