Oil Discovery will not affect Relationship between Bauchi and Gombe – Governor

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed wants the federal government and Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC Limited to develop an effective agreement that would promote harmonious relationships among the Oil prospective communities in Bauchi and Gombe States.
He equally assured of the State Government’s Commitment to support the Oil exploration activities for the economic prosperity of the states and the country as a whole.
Governor Bala Mohammed indicated the Presidential Flag-off for the Integrated Project Development of the Kolmani River II Oil Drilling by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bala Mohammed said with the Oil discovery, the states should strengthen their relationship to leverage endorsement by avoiding unnecessary disagreements on the ownership of the Oil field.
While commending President Muhammadu Buhari and the NNPC limited for the effort to actualise the development, Governor Bala Mohammed also called on the Oil exploration Companies to prioritise the welfare of the host communities as part of their corporate social responsibilities.
Also Speaking, Gombe State Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya warned against hosting people with questionable character to guarantee the successful oil exploration activities and the general security of the area.
The Group Chief Executive Officer NNPC Malam Mele Kyari who disclosed that the Oil is discovered in commercial quantity congratulated Bauchi and Gombe for joining oil producing States.
Also present are the Senate President Ahmad Lawan, APC Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Silva, Chairman Northern Governors’ Forum Simon Lalong, Governor of Borno State Babagana Zulum and traditional rulers from the two states among others.
