Nigeria Ondo Governor Bags Champion Award For Red Gold Project By: Ololade Justin, Ondo On Nov 26, 2022 0 662 Share The National Palm Produce Association Of Nigeria, (NPPAN), has conferred an award of Distinguished Champion of RED GOLD in Nigeria to the Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his immense contribution to the development of oil palm in the state. The event which took place at the international event and cultural center, in Akure, the states capital, was part of activities for the second edition of the Ondo State International Agric Show and Food Fair, (OSIAFFA). Receiving the award, Governor Akeredolu represented by his chief of staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale appreciated the association for the gesture and reiterated the administration’s commitment to developing the red gold project for the benefit of the people. Governor Akeredolu disclosed that the state government had committed about 80,000 hectares of land to oil-palm cultivation in the State. Earlier, The National President of the National Palm Produce Association of Nigeria, (NPAN), Mr Alphosus Nyang said Governor Akeredolu deserved the award for identifying with oil palm production in the state. In a goodwill message, the Chairman , Board of Trustees of the National Palm Produce Association of Nigeria, (NPPAN), Chief Abiodun Adejo observed that the state had moved up in the agric sector among its peers in Nigeria, most especially in Oil palm production through the launch of the Red Gold Project by the governor. Earlier the state chairman, Ondo State Agricultural Commodities Association, (OSACA), Mr Gbenga Obaweya also hailed agricultural transformational policies of Governor Akeredolu in Ondo State. The theme of the two day 2022 Ondo State International Agric Show & Food Fair is “Entrenching Proper Structures For Sustainable Agribusiness Development during which farmers exhibited their produce”.
