Nasarawa state governor Abdullahi Sule, says light rail line from Apo in Abuja to Keffi in Nasarawa state would reduce the traffic jam on the expressway.
Sule stated this at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally held in the Karu Local Government Area of the state.
The governor said he is partnering with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and said the goal of the project was to ease transport challenges faced by residents commuting from the state to Abuja.
“A big Chinese firm has approached us intending to collaborate with us to build a rail line from Apo to Keffi.
“By the time they finish the rail line, it will decongest the major highway from Karu to Keffi.
“All they want is for me to speak with some of the biggest businesses that I have worked for in this country. They want me to talk to them, they have seen them in our investment forum, and they believe they can come in and partner with them. By the middle of next year, the construction work will begin,” he said.
Sule urged residents of the state to put their faith in his administration, as he would continue to work hard to industrialise the state through the provision of critical infrastructure, investments in sectors, and boosting of the state’s internally generated revenue among others.
He also assured supporters that the party would always be law-abiding and obey court judgments on all matters, including cases brought to courts by some contestants, who lost out at the party’s primaries but are contesting the outcome of the polls in court.
“If anybody feels cheated and wants to go to court, we will not stop them. We will plead with them not to go but if they decide they must go, we cannot stop them and whatever decision is taken by the court at the end of the day, I want to assure you that we are a law-abiding party,” he said.
He, called on residents not to lose hope in the APC government, assuring that the party would continue to work round the clock to provide dividends of democracy to citizens of the state.
Also at the rally in Keffi’s local government area, National Woman Leader of the APC, Dr. Betta Edu, commended the Governor for devoting over 30 percent of the annual budget of the state to education, which she said, is the bedrock of any society.
The national APC woman leader commended Sule for his forays in the areas of health, and security, for being labor-friendly, and for prompt payment of salaries.
Women-Friendly Policies
She particularly appreciated the Governor for his women-friendly policies, entrenching mainstreaming in the state in terms of employment opportunities both elective and through appointment.
Dr. Edu used the opportunity to call on women in Keffi and across the state, to embark on vigorous campaigns for all the candidates of the APC from top to bottom.
She particularly called on the women to ensure they collect their PVCs to enable them to vote for the party during the 2023 general elections.
“As we go on, women in Keffi, women in Nasarawa, it’s door to door. Don’t sit down and wait for a performing Governor to call you, you don’t need his approval, he has granted express approval Start going from one door to the other, in your streets, in your compound, in your cluster, in your unit and ward and speak to people about APC. APC is top to bottom,” she noted.
The Chairman of Nasarawa APC Campaign Council, Abubakar Sodangi, called on supporters not to be partial in their support, but give their full support to all APC candidates in the state to enable the party to succeed come 2023.
He urged all not to just to give support to the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the governorship candidate, Engineer Abdullahi Sule but also vote in all APC candidates vying for elective positions in the state from top to bottom.
