Kaduna State: Foundation advocates end to harassment at work

Zamani Foundation, a non-governmental organisation has called for  policies to end sexual harassment in place of work, promote emotional health and safety of women

The Executive Director of Zamani Foundation Mrs Talatu Henry made this known in an interview with the newsmen  shortly after the opening ceremony of a two-day engagement as part of activities marking 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence(GBV) in kaduna

She also noted that sexual harassment keep happening in corporate space and is under-reported due to discrimination

“That is why we want to create awareness and also introduced to introduce them to the Women’s Economic Principles ( WEPs). We want to ensure the woman signed the WEPs and are empowered especially at the work places to ensure that women and corporate organisation do not go under any harasment by putting down policies that it is done.

She further disclosed that introducing the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) will look into the tools which focuses on preventing and addressing harassment in the workplace.

” To also help guide gender-responsive business conduct in the private sector in line with the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and international labour standards.

She added that it would also enable women to report sexual harassment in the workplace for workers, companies and economies alike.

“By also creating a culture of safety, respect and equality and tackling sexual harassment in work and business sense to benefits both employers and employees.

“We want to ensure that women at business, market and corporate organisation benefit from the campaign, sensitization are carried out at various places but not in the market, so ours is different”.
