Highlights Of 2022 National Carnival Polo Tournament

In the different categories of events at the 2022 National Carnival Polo tournament, 28 polo teams will be competing for a total of four cups in the biggest Polo event of the year, at the Guards Polo Club in Abuja, Nigeria.

Some teams competing include Jos Malcomines, the Police IGP Strikers, Nigerian Army Polo Association and Haske & Williams. All teams are bracing up for another epic battle.

On the first day of competition,  end up with, Alphamsa beat Badako Zaz 4-2, while Polo Club 313 defeated ASI 3-2. The Police Polo team beat NSK Farms 81/2 -2 (8 and a half goals to 2). All games were decided in 4 chukkers.

The Captain of the Guards Polo Club, Mukta Adhama, explained that the week-long Polo international carnival fiesta would showcase and celebrate the tourism potential, cultural heritage and unity of the country.

Adhama said that the Polo game is technical and different from other games, but can be played in the different forms of life for unity, assured polo enthusiasts of a grand celebration in Abuja.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, who was represented by the Force Secretary, AIG, Hafiz Inuwa, said:

“We as a Nigerian police force are working with the people and we have to evolve different ways of synergising with police when you look at the Polo tournament,” Baba said.

“You cannot diverse police from the military or vice versa because we are one and the same notwithstanding that the Armed Forces is separated from the police. We have to synergise and work together because they said all work no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

“So apart from you know, collaborating in terms of providing security and what have you, we have to at the same time, know that we should have time for us or for relaxation, a time where we should come together, synergise together and know ourselves better.”
