Nasarawa State Police Command has banned the use of Fireworks, Crackers, and Knockouts during Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.
In a statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) DSP, Rahman Nansel, and issued to journalists in the state, the commissioner of Police, (CP) Maiyaki Muhammed Baba psc (+), urged the general public and residents of the State to completely ban the use of fireworks/crackers and knockouts in order not to cause unnecessary panic and tension during the yuletide period.
According to the CP, “All and sundry are to note that, the ban on the use of fireworks is still in force and the command will enforce all the extant laws prohibiting the use of fireworks such as ‘knock-out’, ‘banger’ and crackers during this yuletide season.
He further charged Parents/Guardians to warn their children and wards to desist from using them while retailers of such goods are equally warned to withdraw from the sales of these products as anyone apprehended will be made to face the full wrought of the law.
