Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has signed 149.3 billion of the 2023 budget into law.

While signing the budget at the Government House, Governor Sule appreciated the cordial working relationship with the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) for the consideration and speedy passage of the 2023 budget into law.

He said the members have demonstrated commitment and patriotism in the development of the state as their partnership would no doubt “enhance our collective responsibility into the provision of purposeful leadership”.

Fulfilled by the processes that led to the signing of the 2023 fiscal appropriation bill into law, Governor Sule maintained that the budget tagged ‘Budget of Economic Consolidation and Continuity’ will allow the government to carry out activities that are not unconnected to the provision of people-oriented programs.

Governor Sule said that with the determination to ensure the continuity of government policies and programs, the ongoing political activities will not affect the implementation of government programs.

He further appealed to all the stakeholders and government functionaries who are going to work on the implementation of the budget to work harder to ensure effective implementation for the good of the state.

Legislative process

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Balarabe Abdullahi explained that the members of the assembly ensured that the appropriation bill went through legislative processes before it was finally passed.

He appreciated the heads of government, ministries and parastatals as well as the finance committee of the assembly for the commitment thus far.

The Speaker also hoped for sustained synergy between the legislative and the executive arms of Government in the period ahead for peace, unity, and development of the State.

The 2023 budget was presented on the floor of the State House of Assembly on November 22nd, 2022, and passed by the Lawmakers on December 20th, 2022.
