Presidential election results have started trickling in to the INEC Collation Centre in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, southern Nigeria.
The Collation Officer for the Presidential Election, Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh apologized for commencing the exercise later than expected, attributing the delay to “the difficult terrain.”
Rim-Rukeh wasted no time in attending to the Returning Officers and Local Government Collation officers from 6 out of 18 local government areas.

The Returning Officers each reported cases of cancellations due to over voting, security threats leading to disruption of voting in a few polling units, stolen BVAS machine at Biko Biko Ward Unit 9 in Yakurr local government area.
While awaiting results from other areas, the presidential collation officer called for a recess to resume at about 4pm.
Meanwhile, the people of Dayspring 1 and 2 including the Qua Island have called on the Electoral Umpire to fresh presidential and national assembly elections in their locality.
The people, who converged at the home of their leader, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa in Calabar to address the press, raised concerns about the number of eligible voters, who would be disenfranchised.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Professor Gabriel Yomere had earlier announced the extension of election period in Dayspring 1 and 2 including Qua Island.
